Volunteer Opportunities

EITW CORT Certified Volunteers are crucial to the success of this program.  You can make a difference by attending a CORT class and signing up for this falls pilot access program.

The goal is to assist in the proper management of our wildlife and provide citizen recreational access.

Projects in S. W Washington Region 5

Weyerhaeuser Saint Helens Tree Farm

This pilot program will need as many volunteers as possible this fall.  Volunteer duties may include the following; managing access gates, handing information and litterbags out to incoming hunters, checking signs and equipment, mentoring, and much more.

The goal is to open weekday access to over 200,000 acres of Weyerhaeuser (Weyco) timber land in SW Washington this fall, assisting the WDFW with the implementation of their Elk Management Plan.

The problem is safety, disruption of logging operations, vandalism and dumping; first how to keep hunter encounters with commercial logging operations minimized.  The plan is to engage as many EITW CORT certified volunteers to maintain key points near logging operations during the all elk seasons.  Depending on the amount of volunteer commitment, the more area that Weyco will open.

The time is NOW!  If you value access to private timber lands, please take the CORT class and sign up for a time slot.  Bow hunters, muzzleloaders, modern firearm hunters and conservationists need to pull together and help make this happen.

EITW/WDFW volunteers participating in this program will be reimbursed for mileage and some expenses.  Several special trainings are being scheduled for participating volunteers.  Please check our new web calendar for dates and times.

Several ways to sign up,
